Adam NeateAdam Neate first hailed into view of the art world after he put his money where his mouth is, so to speak, and exemplified his concept of free art by leaving his own work for the public to happen upon and take home. Whether it was hung on existing nails on walls or simply left on the ground on pieces of cardboard or canvases, those who find it, keep it. This also applies to his exhibitions - if nobody claims a piece, he'll put it randomly on the street. To keep a record of what he's done, each of his works that have been left are meticulously photographed and put on his website.Originally a designer, he spent all of his free time dedicated to his twin loves of skateboarding and painting or simply painting on skateboards, before his multi-layered backgrounds, twinned with what are often warped self-portraits allowed him to become a painter full time. He cites his artistic influences as Picasso, New York graffiti artist, Daze and his wife Waleska. |
